What young girl doesn't love to play dress up?
Because of this, most girls will already likely have the makings of perfect attire to wear to your Tea Party. You can include this on your invitation to have the girls come dressed in their favorite fancy dress. You may, however, want to have a few additional props on hand to help make their outfit even more spectacular and provide another great avenue of fun for everyone. So, make a dress up station and allow time for the girls to just enjoy the play. Here are some ideas of things to include in the "dressing room": Tulle Tulle is very inexpensive at any fabric store and you can get some in pink and white. Large squares of tulle make great "overskirts" by simply wrapping it around the young girl's waist and tying with a piece of ribbon to hold in place. Ribbons and hair accessories Rummage through your bathroom cabinets or swing through the hair accessory section at your local dollar store to find jeweled and ribboned hair doo-dads. Make sure you have hairbrushes on hand too. Feather Boas An absolute necessity for any dress up station. Costume Jewelry Rings, necklaces, bracelets and clip earrings. Sort them in small plastic boxes (another visit to the dollar store if you don't have them handy) to make it easy to select and wear. Capes Purchase some inexpensive fabric in the clearance section of the fabric store for the girls to use as capes. You can even trim the capes with glitter or fake fur. Make up Another visit to the dollar store for some inexpensive lipsticks and blush. Use cotton balls and q-tips for application to keep germ spreading to a minimum. Or even better yet, place yourself (or an older sibling or cousin) at the make up station to do young lady makeovers! Make a Tea Party Hat Simply buy cheap straw hats from your craft store and provide silk flowers, faux feathers, ribbons, tulle, etc. and help hot glue the items onto the hats. You can even go all out and add a rim of tea bags to the outside of the hat.
