Indoor Party Decorations
If you're having a tea party in your own home, the sky is the limit as to what you can do. Here is area where you can really shine. Use plenty of balloons, but add other props and decor to create the elegant atmosphere of an afternoon tea.
Centerpieces
Begin with a white bed sheet as your base tablecloth.
Drape silk or plastic flowers along the center of the table like a runner or use varied colored streamers twisted together and run lengthwise across the table.
Rather than silk plants, you could also place live plants on the table along with cut flowers. Ivy, heather or roses would be beautiful – and very English and proper.
Put another balloon bouquet in the center to tie it all together and you're done! Beautiful, inexpensive and fun!
The Table
Another very simple way to decorate your table is to spread silver or gold confetti all over the table. You can buy confetti at the stores, or use a handheld or three ring hole punch and make your own.
If you are doing the full afternoon tea, you may not even need a centerpiece. Find one of those three-tiered plate stands; put the scones on top, then the tea sandwiches, and the sweets on bottom. That together with your tea pot, tea cups, and some flowers, would make a pretty impressive spread.
If you want to get even fancier, you can add some festivity to your table by folding the napkins in a decorative way. You can find instructions on how to easily fold elegant napkins like the ones below by clicking on their names.
